Scientific Laws vs. Theories

I was wondering about the scientific nomenclature of ‘law’ (e.g. the law of gravity) vs. theory (e.g. th etheory of evolution). Sue pointed me at http://wilstar.com/theories.htm  which lays it out pretty nicely.

Lay people often misinterpret the language used by scientists. And for that reason, they sometimes draw the wrong conclusions as to what the scientific terms mean.

Three such terms that are often used interchangeably are “scientific law,” “hypothesis,” and “theory.”
